Tum Milo Toh Sahi

Singers: Shaan, Raghav Sachar, Kunal Ganjawala, Sukhwinder Singh, Dominique Cerejo and Sunidhi Chauhan

Music Director: Sandesh Shandilya

Lyricist: Irshad Kamil

Rating:**

He is the man behind the lilting melody "Suraj hua madham" in "Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham", but composer Sandesh Shandilya hasn't been able to give us something as refreshing in upcoming film "Tum Milo Toh Sahi".

The film, which stars Nana Patekar, Dimple Kapadia and Suniel Shetty, among others, has six songs on offer.

It opens with the title track sung by Shaan. The song starts with a few English lyrics and then graduates to Hindi. The love ballad is a decent hear and the use of guitar, saxophone and drums gives it an edge. However, the song would have sounded better without the irregular spurts of English lyrics.

Up next is "Janemann", which begins as the slower version of the title track. The song crooned by Raghav Sachar then takes a leap and gains tempo. The orchestration becomes strong and influences of rock music can be felt. It's a nice song.

Then there is another romantic track "Bekhauf mohabbat" with Kunal Ganjawala behind the mike. The song is composed in the present time but sounds old owing to its music.

Next in line is "Chal haath mila" by Sukhwinder Singh. An upbeat and enthusiastic song, this is one of the better numbers in the album.

"Loot" sung by Dominique Cerejo has a heard-before feel. It is energetic and has an inspirational tone. The fast-paced song is neither brilliant nor bad.

Finally there is "I am bad" sung by Sunidhi Chauhan and Ganjawala. There is nothing new that the song offers. It is characterised by an amalgamation of western beats along with the traditional Indian dhol. A very average song.

On the whole, one expected more from Shandilya. The album offers nothing extraordinary or fresh.

Well Done Abba

Singers: Ila Arun, Daniel B. George, Mohit Chauhan, Swanand Kirkire, Shreya Ghoshal, Rupankar and Raja Hasan

Music Director: Shantanu Moitra; Lyricists: Ila Arun, Ashok Mishra and Swanand Kirkire

Rating:***

After scoring a hit soundtrack for blockbuster film "3 Idiots", composer Shantanu Moitra returns with a different style in Shyam Benegal's "Well Done Abba". The songs are not over the top, they simple and hummable.

The album offers five originals and no remix versions.

The soundtrack starts with "Meri bano hoshiyar", a wedding song by Ila Arun and Daniel B. George. With psychedelic beats and western touches mixed with Indian styles, the song is a fusion. It's neither bad nor brilliant.

Up next is a love ballad titled "Sandesa sandesa". The entire song revolves around the word "sandese" and is beautifully sung by Sung Shreya Ghoshal and Rupankar. The number is essentially a romantic one.

Then there is "Hum toh apni bawdi lenge", a satirical number that talks about the political system of the country. The song is effectively voiced by Mohit Chauhan and lyricist Swanand Kirkire. The catchy, upbeat track might be situational but is worth a hear.

Next in line is the best song of the album "Rahiman ishq ka dhaga re". Sung by Raja Hasan, it has traces of Sufi style that engages the listener. The song grows on you and is quite likeable owing to its tranquilising effect and soft music.

Finally, there is "Pani ko taraste", another very nice track. This too has a Sufi flavour and is again sung by Hasan. The soothing beginning and overall treatment of the song gives it an edge. It is pleasing to the ears because of its soft orchestration.

On the whole, Moitra has done a good job with the music of "Well Done Abba" and has composed tunes that generate interest among the listeners.

Prince

Lyricist: Sameer; Singers: Atif Aslam, Shreya Ghoshal, Garima Jhingon, Alisha Chinoy, Hard Kaur, Monali and Sachin Gupta

Music Director: Sachin Gupta

Rating: **

Atif Aslam dominates the soundtrack of Vivek Oberoi-starrer "Prince". Composer Sachin Gupta sure seems impressed with the popular singer as almost all the songs have been crooned by Aslam.

The film offers seven originals and nine remixes.

The soundtrack opens with "O mere khuda" with Atif Aslam and Garima Jhingon behind the microphone. The energetic song starts with a bang and has a powerful impact. This refreshingly upbeat song with a strong orchestration is the best in the album.

The song has a dance mix attached to it, which is quite similar to the original.

Up next is Shreya Ghoshal and Atif Aslam's "Tere liye", a fast-paced romantic number. The song offers nothing new but is enjoyable in parts. However, it's an Atif song all along and Shreya's voice seems to have been wasted in the track.

"Tere liye" has three more versions - a dance mix, a hip-hop mix and an unplugged version. While the first two feature the same singer, the latter version has the voice of the composer Sachin Gupta.

Then there is "Kaun hoon main", which will leave you in a trance. Sung by Atif Aslam, the soulful track has haunting music and the rise and fall of the tempo is interesting.

This song too boasts of two remixes - one a dance mix and the other a lounge mix.

"Aa bhi ja sanam" by Atif starts well but fails to retain interest. Weak lyrics and unimpressive music makes the composition an ordinary affair. The song had potential but finally doesn't make an impact.

"Aa bhi ja sanam" has a dance remix that is better suited for DJ consoles.

Next in line is an all-girls song. "Jiyare jiyare" crooned by Alisha Chinoy and Hard Kaur is a dance number but is just an average piece. The song has influences of Punjabi.

"Jiyare jiyare" has a bhangra mix too.

Then we have "Ishq mein" sung by Monali Thakur. The song seems quite unoriginal and is unimpressive. The music is strong but again won't win over many listeners.

Finally, there is the instrumental theme song of the film.

On the whole, the album has an overdose of remixes but is good in parts.

Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge

Singers: Raghubir Yadav, Ajay Jhingran, Rajneesh, Amit Mishra and Sukhwinder Singh

Lyricist: Irshad Kamil

Music Directors: Pritam Chakraborty and Amit Mishra

Rating: **

The soundtrack of "Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge?", which stars Ajay Devgn and Konkana Sen Sharma, sounds more like a devotional album with three of the five songs being in praise of the almighty.

The album contains five originals and one remix.

"Aaja aaja" crooned by Raghubir Yadav, Ajay Jhingran and Rajneesh, is an amalgamation of folk influences with western orchestration. The fast-paced number is more of a situational track than something that can be hummed.

The song also has a re-mixed version, which offers nothing great and is average.

Next is the title track of the film, where Amit Mishra steps in as composer and singer. This is the song currently doing the rounds of various TV channels.

Trying to be funny with its lyrics and the way the vocals are presented, the song is a one-time hear. It's an ordinary number with no retention value.

Up next is "Dohay". Sung by Amit Mishra again, it is a soft version of poems and couplets written by well-known poets.

Then there is "Jyoti jalaile", a devotional version of the hit item song "Beedi jalaile" from the film "Omkara". This version too is sung by Sukhwinder Singh. The song is sung in praise of goddess Durga.

Finally, we have another religious offering in the guise of "Sukh Karta", an offering to Lord Ganesh. This one too has Amit Mishra behind the mike.

On the whole, there is nothing much for music buffs in the album. The soundtrack is situational and will not boast of any chartbusters. The songs are very unlike those created by Pritam earlier.
